New Logo, New Blog, New Year…

vu11

In the last two or three years I’ve probably learned more about myself than I have in my entire life before that: what sorts of things are truly important to me, what sorts of things aren’t important to me, what my real goals and values are.  Leaving behind the highly fortified walls of academia and heading out into the real world, along with getting married and setting out to build a new life with the one you love, can do a lot for accelerating a person’s maturity, and that’s exactly what it did for me: it pushed me to grow up.

And the growing doesn’t stop.

So with that it’s so, so exciting to see myself continue to grow and evolve as a person, and as an extension to that to grow and evolve as a photographer and entrepreneur. It’s an amazing journey, and to see where I’ve been, even just one year ago, and where I’m going, and to be comfortable in my own skin and with the direction I’m heading – well, few feelings can beat the sense of joy and accomplishment that this brings. With God’s help the future looks bright, indeed.

A key milestone for me is that I feel like I’ve reached a point where I’m starting to get a sense of who I am as a photographer: what my style is, what my artistic vision is, and how I can project these with my brand into a cohesive presentation of me and my imagery. And that’s an exciting feeling, because with that comes confidence in who I am and what I have to offer, and for me confidence is often times the barrier I need to breach in order to really excel at something. It’s the beginning of things beginning to come together, and I couldn’t be more excited to be there.

So with that I bring you a new logo and a new blog. :) It reflects better the simplicity and the elegance I strive for in the images I produce and the experience I create. But since the wider images from the previous design won’t fit in this new layout, I’ll be porting previous entries into the new design as I find time to do so.

In the meantime I’ll try to keep the blog going with more frequent updates. I’m an all or nothing guy, so when I feel less than inspired by something and generally unhappy with it, I won’t touch it until I can put together something better. In addition to being super busy with the birth of our first child, this is why I all but stopped updating my blog until today. :)

And speaking of our new son, here are a couple of pics of him at around 5 weeks, just a few days before we baptized him on January 3rd. Isn’t he cute? :)
