This post is a very special one, though not quite as special as the one I’m going to post in August after these two get married. Brian is my brother, so you can imagine the honor it is to be able to photograph him and the girl of his dreams.
Maryn and Brian both attended USC and met through Maryn’s sister, who orchestrated what would become an inseparable bond of friendship, love and laughter. True to form, Maryn has a romantically detailed version of the story, but I think Brian’s is pretty funny:
“Here’s the story. I was like, ‘What’s up?’ and she was all, ‘Hey’. The rest is just details.”
I can see all the ladiess rolling their eyes just now as they’re reading this. LOL.
Yesterday we started off at the Huntington Library in Pasadena, where Brian proposed and where Maryn had previously visited no less than – let me see if I remember this – about a gazillion times. Maryn has a very healthy obsession with the gardens there (as well as food and… cupcakes!), and having visited yesterday for the first time, I can see why: the place is amazing! The grounds are so lush with so many different types of landscaping that you could easily spend an entire afternoon enjoying the scenery.
Maryn and Brian will be getting married in August at the historic city hall in Old Town Pasadena, with a reception at the Vertical Wine Bistro not too far from there. Can’t wait!

This is the bench where Brian coaxed Maryn into…. I mean, asked Maryn to marry him:

Congratulations to your brother! And love that story, BTW. Short and sweet.
Beautiful shots … beautiful couple!
Great post, Wayne. Made me giggle more than once. :) There’s something about the composition of the third image in this post that I really love. I keep going back to it. Also, the B&Ws are fab. Can’t wait to see their wedding post!
The third one is my favorite too…such a beautiful location! Congratulations to your brother and his fiance!
Great job, Wayne! I love the fact that you were able to photograph your brother’s engagement session. They are very sweet together and seem so happy together.
Congrats to your brother and his fiance! They’re such a cute couple! Love all of these, but I think the wide shot in front of the library is my fave!
What a great couple Wayne…good stuff!
Wayne this is so sweet :) I love that you get to photograph your brother what a special time for you both! I love the third one too I think its their expressions that are just so real. Such a great moment. Well done!
Wayne what a great post and beautiful photos. Thanks for sharing and congratulations to your brother and his gorgeous fiance!
Wayne you’re work is becoming more and more prevalent from your eyes and your heart. You sense the feelings, color, textures, emotions of the subjects, whether it be animate or inanimate objects then compose then so artfully as only a true artist could. I really love your B&W shots and know that Maryn and Brian will too…
Soooo cute! I love that they took photos on the bench where they were engaged, I think those are my fave. Congrats to the nearly-weds! Beautiful photos, Wayne!
that’s your first time there Wayne??? and you call yourself a californian? i’m revoking your rights!
LOL. But don’t you like the photos? :)
