Color images can be immensely beautiful, but no image can give the viewer such an overwhelming sense of timelessness as the right image in black and white – and by “right” I mean composition, lighting, tonal range, and content. Someday I would love to present one of my clients with an entire wedding in black and white, beginning to end: fine art prints, albums, everything. If that couple is you, please do let me know. :)

Susie + Brien | Hood River, OR Wedding

Susie and Brien are such a sweet couple – one of the sweetest ever. Their wedding was at the Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum in Hood River, OR, and was an incredibly emotionally packed day, for a couple of reasons. First, Brien is in the National Guard and is deploying to Iraq this Monday; and second, both of their fathers came down with medical conditions prior to the wedding, which made it uncertain whether or not either of them would be able to attend. Fortunately, they both were there, were in great spirits and were doing very well.

Thank you so much, Susie and Brien. Wishing you both the best as you begin your new life together. :)

Rena + Han | Pasadena, CA Wedding

I love Rena and Han. :) They are so genuine and so kind and have been absolutely wonderful clients to work with. I look forward to photographing their children one day (hint hint!). :)

Their beautiful wedding took place at the Pasadena City Hall and the Westin Hotel right next door. Thanks so much as well to Ellen Hwang for coordinating this event so smoothly. Feel free to contact me if you need a really well organized coordinator to help plan your wedding day. :)

Beauty in the Pearl

I can’t imagine doing anything other than taking photographs of beautiful, amazing people week in and week out. There’s an unspoken energy, an indescribable peace and an almost zen-like calm that comes with seeing the world through a viewfinder, snapping the shutter and seeing the final result in beautiful photographs. God help me if I ever lose my sight or ability to use a camera someday.

This shoot took place at the Asa Lofts in the Pearl District and is part of Luxe Event Productions and The Scene Marketing Group’s Luxe Life fashion series. I am really blessed to be able to collaborate with these talented ladies to produce such beautiful photographs. The beautiful lady in these photographs is Luxe intern Alyssa, who unfortunately will be moving to Texas in a few short days. She will be missed!

Victoria + Michael | Pasadena, CA Wedding

Victoria and Michael’s wedding took place in the Japanese Garden at the Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, CA. I really love this hotel: classy details, fantastic service, incredible food. Thanks to the staff there as well as Amanda Auer of In the Now Weddings for putting everything together so well.

Fun fact: Victoria made her dress as well as her bridesmaids’ dresses. Pretty talented, right? Check out Victoria’s fashion label here.

Michelle + Sky | Orange, CA Wedding

This beautiful wedding took place at the Jones Victorian Estate in Orange, CA, a wonderful little historic venue built in 1881. What’s funny is that I lived in Orange for about 10 years and never knew this little gem even existed. I definitely recommend this venue if you’re looking for a beautiful, full service location where the venue can take care of nearly all of the needs for your wedding day in-house.

Thanks as well to Michelle Gregory and her wonderful staff at the Estate for her wonderful coordination services. It certainly made my job a lot easier the day of.
